Torrential rain, wind and PBs at Brighton Half Marathon

Torrential rain, wind and PBs at Brighton Half Marathon

23/02/2010

The Sussex Beacon Brighton Half Marathon is my favourite race of the year. Well, it was! It was my 5th running of the event and this time a number of clients joined us to run the event.

I’ve been convincing Veronica that the biblical weather forecast she’d been monitoring for the last month would definitely prove to be wrong and that a nice day by the seaside would be had by all. I was wrong!

The 6,200 runners, thousands of spectators and fantastic army of volunteers were left battered and frozen by the incessant heavy rain and icy wind that buffeted the runners for most of the run along the Brighton seafront.

Despite the tough conditions all of the GoOutRun.com running team posted good times, with 3 runners nailing a PB through the wind and the rain!

Once again in the most testing conditions the event was superbly organised, attended and supported. A special mention must go to Captain America who was with me stride for stride and must have weighed about 2 stone heavier by the end!

Well done team and look forward to a sunnier day by the seaside next year!
